I just watched the film, and although no woman can really complain about having spent 3 hours with Bradelicious, I must say I have one huge complaint. The SOUND was awful. Honestly, I can’t tell you a single thing about the tug boat captain, because the ambient noise in the saloon and on the boat overpowered his every muttery word. The same thing happened when Benjamin was dining with his English lover, and when he was at the cast party in New York. It was so distracting, I found myself with eye strain from trying to read the actors’ lips.

Was that just because I was at dear old CinemaStar? Should I go see it again in a theater with a newer, better sound system? Or was this an example of what a good sound tech could have prevented?

Now go see 7 Pounds, and use your superior brain to explain that one to me!

I just saw the film yesterday afternoon before my incredible win at the New Year’s bash. I LOVED the movie, it was so very thoughtful, sad, deep, the ending tore me up. I pulled my hat down low to shield my obvious tear stained face as I left the theatre. I’m no special effects guru, but I can’t stand any movie that doesn’t handle them well, it instantly pulls you out of the story when it doesn’t look real or believable. I was AMAZED at how real Brad looked as a little old man and a young teenager. I was looking hard for the goofs ups or the obvious signs that it was not his head on that short body, but I couldn’t find it, it totally allowed me to enjoy the film and sink into the story. The three hours passed all too quickly!

Nice write-up! I was captivated by the film as well. You make some keen insights into Fincher I had not previously thought of…and yeah, I found the technical aspects fascinating, too, though you explained those elements far better than I did.

I agree mostly, but I still want to the the alienate people movie and the Saw V. Love the Saw series and I’m curious as to how this is gonna (hopefully) wrap it up.

a superb movie.
i enjoyed the themes between good/evil, death/life, hope/hopelessness, and the “social experiment” between the two ferry’s.

probably could’ve been a tad shorter and definitely should be rated “R”.
